Are Swedes The Most Sex-Savvy In Europe?

You might be sitting there and thinking that the answer to that question is obvious. After all, there are so many beautiful escorts here on Escort Sweden that the Swedish must be the most sex-savvy people in all of Europe, right?

Well it seems that a recent study might have actually cemented Sweden’s position as the number one in Europe for their knowledge of sex, and we take a look at just what that means and how the country compares to others for their sex skills.

Stockholm-based startup

In case you didn’t know, the 26th of September is World Contraception Day. When international days like this come around, it’s a good excuse to remind yourself and others around you why the topic is so important. With contraception, it’s a case of keeping yourself others safe when you’re having sex. After all, the least sexy way to end the night is to realise you didn’t wrap your cock and realising that you’ve put your own health at risk for a quick fuck. It’s definitely not a great way to do things.

Well, the Swedish birth control and fertility app, NaturalCycles, wanted to know more about contraceptives and reproduction, although more specifically, they wanted to know what we knew about them.

They decided to ask what they considered to be very basic questions about contraceptives and how contraception works in order to test the knowledge of around 3,000 men and women. These men and women came from not only Sweden, but also the UK and even America.

The most shocking thing was that the survey showed around half of us have absolutely no idea how contraception works, and we are blindly putting our faith in it and thinking it just simply works. We don’t want to know more about it – we just want it to work. In fact, some would say things like “I have no idea how the pill works. It’s just the pill.” Yikes!

The top and bottom of the charts

The questions covered a range of topics in sex, but mainly focused on things like “how long sperm can survive”, “when a woman can get pregnant” and “how the pill actually works”. They then put the results together to see which country was the most clueless.

The answer? Brits. British people, it seems, have absolutely no idea when it comes to sex. Around 45% of the British participants answered the survey questions correctly, putting them at the bottom of the charts.

In second place were the American participants, who got 50% of the answers correct. It’s not much of an improvement, but it is still an improvement on Britain’s score.

However, right at the top of the charts were the Swedish people, who managed to get around 54% of the questions right. Okay, so it still isn’t a huge improvement on Britain’s pitiful 45%, but it goes to show that Swedes are the ones who know best when it comes to sex.

Do you know more?

You might be feeling completely astonished by the responses to this survey, but thankfully NaturalCycles decided to summarise things in the form of a video. In the video they asked some British and Swedish couples about sex to find out exactly what they know. If you thought reading their responses was bad enough, watching them is even worse.

Okay, so the might have chosen the couples who really were the most clueless when it came to sex, but it doesn’t exactly fill you with confidence, does it? These couples seem to have absolutely no idea how the contraceptives they are using work, and Dr Elina Berglund believes she has the answer.

“The taboo of talking about modern methods of birth control with your partner has led to a huge educational void. We tend to go along with what our friends or doctors suggest, often not reading the label, and stick to the same method that we were prescribed to as teenagers”.

However, we are genuinely curious now. Are we really so clueless about sex and contraceptives that we will just use it anyway? Do we really think it works by magic? Take a look at the video and tell us if you know the answers to the questions, or if those surveyed are actually representative of the nation.

What do you know about contraceptives?

We all have our preferences when it comes to sex. Yes, sex without a condom can feel so much better in the moment, but with a condom you can relax knowing that no-one is going to get pregnant or catch an STI from your night of fun. To me, that is the most important thing, and yet so many are clueless when it comes to contraceptives.

That is why NaturalCycles has begun to look at this topic, and they have now launched the #LifeChangingOptions campaign. This campaign aims to help people in the western world when choosing contraceptives and things, and in doing so they also help to educate and empower those in developing countries so they know what is available to them.

Perhaps what is best of all is that, for every time the #LifeChangingOptions hashtag is used, the company is going to donate 1 krona. This krona will go to Kvinna, a non-profit foundation aiming to help those in developing countries. After all, Berglund tells us that “it is part of our reproductive right to understand the options available to us to prevent unwanted pregnancies.”

So, have you tested yourself? How do your answers compare to those shown in the video, or do you think you are just as clueless? You can let us know by leaving a comment in the box below, or you could head to the Escort Sweden forum and join in the discussion there. Is it time that we learned a little more about contraceptives?
